Overview
Where? Colchester Sail number 56161, built in 1978 I believe. The magnolia colour hull is very sound with no soft areas. The mast socket is not worn, that can be a problem with older Lasers. There are a few minor dings that could easily be filled if required, but overall the boat looks very tidy for its age. A number of scratches on the underside. The spars are in good condition. The centreboard and rudder/stock show the signs of lots of use but are perfectly serviceable. A carry bag for these, together with the sail and tiller, is included. In addition there is a shortened mast top section, that together with a modified sail make up a small rig that’s ideal for lighter crews in stronger wind, or for novice sailors. The trolley is broken, but the main cross member and wheels are OK. The mainsail is no longer crisp, unsurprisingly! There are no tears though, and it would do to get you sailing. I would like to have pressure washed the boat before taking the photos, but there’s a hosepipe ban at present! It would look even better then. I raced this Laser for many years at Manningtree, and it would be great to see it sailed there again! It’s a bargain at this price!
